What Lucid Does

Lucid is a dream journal app with AI-powered dream interpretation. It is designed with privacy as a core principle.

Data That Stays on Your Device

• Dream entries (text, titles, emotions, themes, ratings)
• Your name (entered during onboarding)
• Onboarding quiz answers
• App settings and preferences
• All personal dream content

This data is stored locally using on-device storage (MMKV) and is never transmitted to any server. Deleting the app permanently removes all local data.

Data Collected by Third-Party Services

PostHog (Analytics)

We collect anonymized usage data to understand how people use the app and improve the experience. This includes which screens are viewed, which features are used, and general interaction patterns. This data is not linked to your identity and does not include your dream content, name, or any personal text. PostHog processes this data on our behalf.

RevenueCat (Subscription Management)

If you subscribe to Lucid Premium, RevenueCat processes your subscription status using an anonymous device identifier. We do not have access to your payment details — all payments are handled by Apple through the App Store. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or any personal information.

Sentry (Crash Reporting)

We collect anonymous crash reports to identify and fix technical issues. Crash data includes device type, operating system version, and technical error information. It does not include dream content or any personally identifiable information.

Anthropic API (AI Dream Interpretation)

When you request a dream interpretation, the following data is sent to Anthropic's Claude API:

• Dream text — the content of the dream you wrote
• Emotion tags — the emotion you selected for the dream
• Dream themes — any themes you tagged (e.g., Flying, Water)

This data is sent only when you explicitly request an interpretation by tapping the "Interpret" button. Before any data is sent for the first time, the app asks for your explicit consent via an in-app prompt.

Anthropic processes this data solely to generate your dream interpretation. We do not store your dream content on any external server — the API call is stateless. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their privacy policy and terms of service.

Data NOT Collected

• We do not collect or transmit your name, email, or contact information to any server
• We do not collect location data
• We do not use advertising SDKs or display ads
• We do not sell, share, or transfer personal data to third parties for advertising purposes
• We do not track you across other apps or websites

Your Controls

• Delete all data: Removing the app from your device permanently deletes all locally stored data, including your dreams, settings, and preferences

Children's Privacy

Lucid is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
